On Sunday, the day of the Mass celebrated by Pope Francis on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, thousands of pilgrims walked past the Shrine of Saint Rita. Many played musical instruments, sang, called out religious slogans in many languages, wore distinctive clothing, and carried flags of their native lands. Truly, their walk was a procession before the celebration of the supper of the Lord.
